I believe in child centered curriculum where students are encouraged to pursue their own interests. My classroom is a learning environment with an emphasis on community.
The classroom space that vibrates with joy and gratitude, a safe space where students are encouraged to explore, play, laugh, discover, wonder, reflect, share. My class supports each other to take academic risks, try new things, and grow. I want each student to find their happiness and the gifts that reside within them through their learning.
Classroom Management
My classroom is a learning community founded on respect, and inclusivity. I work to cultivate a classroom culture that celebrates diversity and encourages varying perspectives. Emphasis on socio emotional growth, it is my goal for students to become happy, healthy, kind, caring, active global citizens. My classroom management style is rooted in Responsive Classroom strategies that build intrinsic motivation to do well and contribute to the classroom. Students are afforded freedom to be themselves, play, explore, create, and discover but are expected to uphold clear classroom routines and expectations. I use interactive modeling to show students exactly how they are expected to be in the classroom. I spend time noticing and naming student strengths, gifts, talents, and skills and celebrate wrong answers as learning opportunities. I encourage students to collaborate and learn from each other to build a learning community that connects school, to home, and to the world.
